It’s estimated that by 2040, only 15 per cent of the world’s population will be living in what are now called developed countries. What ‘developed’ means though is another subject in its own right. Clearly, multinational corporations will be seeking continued business growth in the rest of the world, or ‘emerging markets’ as they oft called. Sustainability as a business opportunity in these markets can be both financially profitable and socially responsible, says Barbara Kux of the Dutch multinational Royal Philips Electronics in this interview with Adrien Laugier-Werth of Insead Knowledge
